Math: Despite a cultural arts program during our math time this morning, we still managed to put in some time for 30 minutes. Although this unit introduced some pretty complex concepts (ie - balancing equations to determine unknowns), we have spent the last couple of days applying our knowledge of factors and multiples by comparing composite numbers through prime factorization trees (5th grade concept). Say that three times fast! Thankfully, all the time we've spent developing our knowledge of factors and multiples made prime factorization a breeze...famous last words!

Originally I had planned for the unit assessment to be given tomorrow; however, we'll give it a go on Friday after another day of practice.

Language Arts: I think we're about "summaried" out! Look for one more by next week and we'll close this "chapter" for a little while. In the meantime, we have planned a project with Mrs. Rose in the media center that incorporates our social studies content (cites of the world) with our writing instruction (research process). We'll kick it off right before break and continue working for the two weeks after break. The end product will be a travel brochure!

Spelling is due this Friday!
