Math: Our first quiz from unit 3 is coming home tonight. It has been a long time since we've had a quiz come home so I want to remind you that tonight is a perfect opportunity to understand how we assess and what your student understood. These need to come back signed. In addition, they are to work on page 397, numbers 1-10 tonight for homework. We're getting awfully close to decimal time...

Language Arts: We read a few fables today and discussed possible morals. The interesting thing is how fables become more complicated as they get older so I got a lot of puzzled looks this morning. I typically get this so I look to build towards the moral by retelling what happened in the story, exploring reasons for certain statements, and seeking connections that help make sense of the last sentence of two. Difficult for 3rd graders but it is often a matter of background knowledge...
